Every day this debilitating fear causes thousands of people here in Ireland unnecessary distress. People will deliberately avoid travelling by air because these feeling are so powerful. They miss out on holidays, family occasions and business opportunities rather than face boarding an aeroplane. They turn down job offers or promotions where air travel would be a part of the job, restricting their lives and careers needlessly. The root cause of fear of flying varies. In general the memory of a past event that caused a great surge of emotion remains in the subconscious, (This event may have had nothing to do with flying whatsoever) until it is released.
